This 3-day course will provide a solid understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and procedures relating to a Major Incident Command call. We will focus on legal and departmental liabilities related to proper note taking, expanding listening and organizational skills, in addition to a scenario based training exercise. Proper note taking can help to reduce civil liabilities, assist in SIU investigations, and increase commanding confidence knowing events have been properly recorded. This course will allow individuals to gain an in-depth understanding of the procedural requirements and responsibilities of the scribe in addition to the Crisis Negotiating Team, Tactical Team, Command Post, and Scene Manager in order to see the bigger picture of the communal team effort, resolution, and documentation. Participants will learn about S.M.E.A.C., available resources and proper terminology integral to effective incident communication. Co-delivered by an expert Scribe Course lecturer and instructor.
